Academic Decathlon

The United States Academic Decathlon® is a ten-event scholastic competition for teams of high school students. Each high school enters a team of nine students: 3 "A" or Honor students (3.750 - 4.00 GPA), 3 "B" or Scholastic students (3.00 - 3.749 GPA), and 3 "C or below" Varsity students (0.00 - 2.999 GPA).

The theme for the 2017–2018 Academic Decathlon® is Africa.

Speech & Debate

The National Speech & Debate Association is the world’s largest honor society
devoted to speech and debate activities, and bestows numerous awards and
recognition to students, coaches, and schools. The National Speech & Debate
Association hosts the largest academic completion in the world, the National Speech
& Debate Tournament.

Mock Trial

Mock Trial helps students acquire a working knowledge of our judicial system,
develop analytical abilities and communication skills. Students compete against
other local schools at the Fresno Superior Courthouse downtown.

Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad requires preparation, commitment, coaching, and practice throughout the year. Each school-based team is allowed to bring 15 students who cross-train for a variety of events in their skill set, but some school clubs have more than 75 members, allowing for an apprentice and mentoring system. Teamwork is a required skill in most scientific careers today, and Science Olympiad encourages group learning by designing events that forge alliances.

Math Team

If you like problem-solving, competition, and want to have some fun, join the math team. The students will compete in various events, the California Math League (CAML) competition, American Mathematics Contest (AMC 10/AMC 12), California State University, Bakersfield Math Field Day, and the California State University, Fresno Math Field Day competition.
