UHS teaches a rigorous college preparatory, music and arts-enriched
academic curriculum within a
small school culture and has a safe and responsive community of engaged
families, staff, and
faculty. For the past four years, the college attendance rate out of
high school has been 97% or
better (each year students have gone into the military, Peace Corp or
been an exchange student).
Equally important, the school is serving the region’s diverse
population. In 2009, students
represented 45 different zip codes and nine different cities, as the
schools’ demographics
carefully matched those in the area.
Known for years as “Trailer Park High”, our school site operated in a
maze of portable
classrooms. Our new, state of the art building has helped enhance our
student’s educational
experience as the building and its furnishings have been designed to do
just that.
