University High School Volunteer Process
University High School thanks you for your willingness to volunteer and support our students. We appreciate your cooperation as we follow these new State guidelines.
University High School welcomes parent volunteers and community members who want to contribute to the success of our students. While we have always prioritized student safety, a new California Senate Bill (SB 848) signed October 7, 2026, expanded the definition of “Mandated Reporter” beyond teachers and staff to also include “volunteers” over the age of 18. Mandated Reporters receive training and are legally required to report reasonably suspected child abuse or neglect to the proper authorities. This training must be re-completed annually.
Volunteers will be required to be finger-printed, complete an online mandated reporter training, and submit a copy of their driver’s license. Coordinate with our office manager and the event organizer to verify that you are eligible to volunteer.
Volunteer Process:
Volunteer(s) need to access the website link listed on the Parents tab > Volunteer.
Volunteer(s) will fill out the Google form.
UHS Process:
The teacher lets the Office Manager know of an upcoming event that he/she will need volunteers for (e.g., Freshmen Field Trip, Speech and Debate tournament, etc.)
After the parent has filled out the Google Form, the Office Manager will verify the entry(ies) with the teacher.
Office Manager Process:
Set up the fingerprint appointment with the volunteer.
Assign mandated trainings for the volunteer to finish in a timely manner.
Gather car insurance information, if needed.
All volunteer requirements must be completed before a person may volunteer. This includes completing the Google Form, submitting a copy of the volunteer’s driver’s license, completing fingerprinting, and finishing the required online training. If any of the requirements are incomplete or missing, the person will not be permitted to volunteer.
